Understanding Scripture
How God Opens Understanding Throughout the Bible
Throughout Scripture, we repeatedly see God opening understanding through His Word, His Spirit, and faithful teachers so that Christ may be more clearly seen.
Discover how Jesus, Philip, Paul, Ezra, Daniel, and others reveal a consistent biblical pattern: Scripture is given, understanding is opened, and truth becomes clear.
Start with the Word, study in context, and grow in understanding as The Lord reveals His truth through Scripture.
"Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures."
The mission of Know The Bible is not to replace Scripture, but to help illuminate the connections, context, and testimony already present within it.

Recent Updates
New Article: The God of History
We've added a foundational article about why context matters when reading Scripture. God did not reveal Himself in abstraction. He revealed Himself through real people, real places, real events, real kingdoms, and ultimately the real person of Jesus Christ.
This article explains the heart behind connecting Scripture with historical context without losing the central conviction that God's Word is complete, trustworthy, and sufficient. Context serves Scripture; it does not stand beside it as a competing authority.
Enriching Scripture with Historical Dates
KTB is beginning to connect Scripture with historical events and dates so readers can see more of the real-world setting in which Scripture unfolds.
These dates are not meant to replace Scripture. They are context markers that help readers understand history, prophecy, fulfillment, geography, kingdoms, exile, return, and the movement of God's work through time.
Some dates are virtually undisputed, such as the fall of Babylon or the destruction of Jerusalem. Others are approximate, traditional, or disputed, and KTB will label them honestly instead of hiding that uncertainty.
Early examples of this metadata pattern include:
- Matthew 24:2 connected with the destruction of the Second Temple and AD 70.
- Daniel 2 connected with the succession of historical kingdoms.
- Book- or chapter-level context, such as Daniel's setting during the Babylonian exile.
This metadata will first enrich Study View and later support a dedicated Timeline View. The goal is simple: help readers see how Scripture unfolds in real history.
New Article: Understanding Scripture
We've added a new teaching article to better explain the heart behind Know The Bible: preserving Scripture while helping illuminate the connections, context, patterns, and Christ-centered testimony already present within God's Word.
The vision is clear, but much work remains — metadata mapping, cross-reference enrichment, first-reference study, contextual notes, translation awareness, and tools that help readers see Scripture more clearly.
If you believe in this mission, consider partnering through support, time, technical contribution, biblical research, writing, review, or prayer.

New Translations
KTB has been significantly expanded with the addition of multiple new Bible translations, giving readers a wider spectrum of study, comparison, and cross-reference opportunities. Each translation is fully ingested and integrated with KTB's verse-level metadata system.
KTB translations now include:
- ACV: A Conservative Version
- ASV: American Standard (1901)
- BBE: Bible in Basic English
- DARBY: Darby English Bible
- GNV: Geneva Bible (1599)
- KJV: King James Version (1611)
- NHE: New Heart English Bible
